Happy New Year!
We have started the year with a VERY busy schedule– we have 9 students from 5 countries attending the Childbirth Educator and Doula Training seminar her at our place from Jan. 10-29th! This 3 week seminar is the classroom portion of the certification process. The students will be teaching at three locations over the next two weeks, and we will hold two free prenatal clinics as well since we have 3 experienced midwives also taking the course.
Leslie will be in California from February 5 through March 16th visiting family and friends. She will also share about Project Life at churches. This is her first trip back to the USA in over three years! Please let us know if you have a group or church that would like to see the new video and hear what God is doing here in the lives of the poor.
The boxes of gifts from Sierra Pines Church arrived and we had a feeding/gift giving last Saturday. So many families were blessed with toys, toiletries, and FOOD! The Project Life leaders from 12th St. led the event with music, bible stories and games. We are so proud of them as they step forward to minister to others. It’s amazing to see what the Lord has done in their lives.
We are expanding!! After praying and seeking God for the last year and a half, He is opening doors for another outreach location! It’s here in a remote outlaying area of Subic, just a 30 min ride by vehicle. The place is called “Alibang” and the poor people in the surrounding area are Aeta (tribal) and tagalog speaking Filipino. There are 754 families, and approximately 3000 people in the area. This is such a different setting than 12th St. and our 12th St. leaders are excited to reach out to others as we once reached out to them! We have met a married couple (he is Hungarian, she is Filipina) who built an open air chapel in Alibang and have invited us in to use it as a meeting place. Next week we will conduct a prenatal clinic and feeding there.
Lives are being touched, people are hearing the Gospel and the Lord is transforming lives!
God bless and thanks again for all you are doing to help us help the poor,
Sonny and Leslie Nabong

Dear Friends and Partners of Project Life,
We are at a crossroads! We need your help! Due to the economic crisis in the USA, the ministry funds and our personal support are at the lowest they have been over the last three years.
Project Life/YWAM Subic has continued to minister to the poor through bible studies, children’s and youth ministries, feeding programs, student sponsorships, health projects and job training. We thank God for our faithful supporters/partners for their hearts of compassion and their commitment to see the kingdom of God expanded here in the slums of Olongapo. Your prayers, encouragement and donations have helped us develop this ministry!
As you know, we are self supporting like all YWAM missionaries, receiving no salaries for our work. We do not have retirement benefits or paid health insurance. We depend on the donations of church and individuals like you. We send regular updates about the ministry, but only ask for financial support about once a year.
Much of our regular support to cover YWAM Base expenses has come from visiting teams who pay us for lodging and meals. We have not had teams here for four months and no requests from teams for Oct-Dec. This is unusual for our base and we aren’t sure if this is related to the economy or not.
Having said all that, we now find it necessary to increase both our personal monthly support and our ministry support so we can continue serving the poor and sharing the Gospel. We continue to pray and expect God to provide, but felt we should communicate openly with you about our needs:
· We have an immediate need for ministry funds at this time. Our feeding program, other ministries and YWAM Base expenses are $1,100 a month.
· We need to raise our personal support by $500 month to enable us to stay on the mission field.
At this time we must expand our support base to be effective now and in the future. We have been given frequent flyer tickets to return to the USA in February and will use that opportunity to expand our funding base by speaking to individuals and churches. (An added blessing is we will be there for the birth of our first grandchild!) If you know of churches or groups that would be interested in having us speak to them, please let us know.
If you are already supporting us financially, we ask that you reach out to others who might be willing to financially and prayerfully support the ministry. If you have been receiving our newsletters you are well aware of the amazing things that God has been doing here through YWAM Subic/Project Life. If you haven’t gotten involved with us yet by giving financially or joining our prayer team, we encourage you to take a step of faith and partner with us to see God transform a community!
Thank you again for your faithful support.
May God bless you,
Sonny and Leslie Nabong
